One of the key challenges in industrial testing is quickly validating whether a customer's requirement can be automated using existing hardware and software tools.
Recently, a customer asked us to evaluate the feasibility of automating an RF measurement process using standard laboratory instruments.
To demonstrate the concept, we used Lynx Tester Scheduler to control a Rohde & Schwarz SMC100 RF Signal Generator and a ZVL-6 Network/Spectrum Analyzer through standard SCPI commands.
In just a few hours, we were able to:
- Configure and control both instruments
- Generate and inject RF signals
- Acquire measurement data
- Execute the complete test sequence from a single software environment
No custom software development was required. No complex integrations. Just standard SCPI communication and a flexible test automation platform.
This proof of concept highlights one of the main advantages of Lynx Tester Scheduler: transforming customer requirements into working test solutions quickly, reducing technical risk and accelerating project development.
For engineering teams working with RF validation, laboratory instrumentation or automated test systems, rapid prototyping can significantly shorten decision-making and implementation times.
What started as a customer requirement became a fully automated RF test workflow in just a few hours.
This project demonstrates how Lynx Tester Scheduler enables engineering teams to rapidly evaluate new testing requirements, integrate laboratory instruments and develop functional proof-of-concepts without unnecessary complexity.
